Seemingly coming out of nowhere, Scandinavian group Postiljonen has currently been making huge waves in the indie scene. They have only released a few songs online in their hometown of Scandinavia, but now they are making their way across the sea to the United States with their debut album, Skyer, releasing on July 22 in the US. They’ve let the first single from the album out, entitled “Atlantis,” and it is a beautiful, sprawling track that evokes dreamy emotions and carefree vibes. It’s hard not to draw comparisons to M83, especially with the French electronic band making saxophone solos cool again on “Midnight City”- but this is inspiration, not imitation. When the song starts it sounds like it could be straight off of a jazz radio station, and is the perfect introduction to vocalist Mia Bøe’s beautiful, subdued verses about getting lost in your mind before the saxophone comes back in for a powerful chorus.
I see an incredibly quick rise to stardom for this incredibly talented duo, and you can get a stream of their album now on Spotify- listen to it below. Additionally, the band just released a dreamy, wonderful video for the track, watch it here.
